Psychotherapy
In my practice as a psychologist and psychotherapist,
I direct my patients to work with their inner selves
and troublesome thoughts. I try to show the patient
that psychotherapy is not not a fight or struggle
against oneself, but a positive life change.
What is
Psychotherapy has many forms and its course depends primarily on the patient’s attitude and mutual cooperation with the psychotherapist. During the conversation we try to get to the bottom of the problem, choosing the best method of work according to the patient’s needs. It is possible both in my office in Warsaw and online.
How it works
During the psychotherapy, divided into cyclical hourly meetings, I work with the patient in the field of diagnosed problem. I support both children and adolescents as well as adults. The method I use is cognitive behavioral therapy, thanks to which we establish the goals to achieve and the scope of joint activities.
How does psychotherapy work?
Psychotherapy is a process that consists of several basic elements that should follow one another, regardless of whether the therapy is short-term or long-term. The course of psychotherapy includes:
- An initial telephone conversation to discuss the problem
- Scheduling a meeting
- First office visit (with relevant medical records, if any)
- Taking a history during the interview, which will help to establish a correct diagnosis
- Discuss how to work and define therapy goals
- Start working on the problem together
- Regular appointments in the office or online + recommendations for work at home
- Keeping track of your well-being and monitoring your progress
- Verifying the stage of therapy
- Setting new goals, if any
- Discussion of noticeable changes
The final stage of proper psychotherapy should be
- When a satisfactory level of change has been achieved – termination of therapy
Staying in touch by phone when needed
For whom?
Psychotherapy has no age or severity of problem limitations. Any person can benefit from psychotherapy for recurrent anxiety, neurosis, depression, eating disorders or other problems. I see children, adolescents, adults, and couples in my office or online.
How long?
The duration of psychotherapy depends mainly on the work and attitude of the patient and the intensity of the ailment they are dealing with. Psychotherapy can be short term or long term. In its process the most important thing is to achieve the inner balance of the patient and to heal deep-rooted problems, resulting for example from family factors.
For what problems?
Psychotherapy should be used in the case of neurotic, depressive and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, communication disorders and any other disorders which make everyday life difficult. It can also be used in cases of violence in the family, work or school environment. Psychotherapy is primarily about opening up, acceptance and understanding, and a step-by-step solution to the ailment that has arisen.
